Kyle--
Nice shot! I envy you the frequent sightings of YCNHs in the Houston area--they're scarce here. I always look forward to seeing them working the drainage ditches as I'm driving into or out of IAH.

Great capture of the Night-Heron in the morning sunshine! He is very handsome indeed with those gorgeous plumes.
Jeff- Thanks, and thanks for the visit! Yup, they just started showing up again in the roadside ditches about three weeks ago. I'd never even noticed them before getting serious about birding last year. Now I really look forward to spotting one or two between work and home most days.
April- Thanks! Just a half-second after I snapped this pic, he stood those plumes straight backward and stretched his neck way up, then turned directly away from me before I could get another good shot. I took that as my cue to leave before I really spooked him.
It's a good thing you stopped because that is a very nice shot! So crisp with bright light...it really makes his eye and feathers stand out!
Kyle, what a fantastic photo of a gorgeous bird. I have never seen one of those before. Such lovely colors.
Just happened to be passing one??? You stinker.
I saw ONE, and it was an immature and it was like half a mile away.
What beautiful birds. I wish they were more conspicuous.
THAT'S what you see in drainage ditches on the way to work? Lucky you!
Yellow-crowneds are rare in Ohio - I have to drive a hundred miles to find one. There is an odd little colony that lives in an upscale Columbus suburb that is semi-famous among Ohio birders.
Sweet photo!

You've got to love those eyes! Great image, Kyle.
Fantastic Photo..I can count the feathers..
I give up...too many.
This really is a beautiful, sharp image.
Wow, what an awesome bird, and you got a great shot! :)
